How to Connect A Router To Another Router

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. They perform the traffic detecting function on the Internet and are also often distinguished on the basis of the network in which they operate. A router in local area network (LAN) is called interior router. While those connect LAN with Wide area network (WAN) are called border or gateway routers. Any router can be connected to another router easily, same is the case with Cisco router users. To connect the routers, you can easily follow the simple step by step guide or try reaching out to CiscoRouter Customer Service Number, which is available online for providing support help to its users.

There are two ways by which you could do so, by creating a separate private network or simply another connection point for your larger home network.

Solution: Connecting two routers

Step 1: Place the 2nd router at a high central point and attach it to an Ethernet cable coming from one of the wired LAN ports on the main router. It will become your wireless access point (WAP). Both the routers are now connected.
Step 2: At your main router, configure a static internal IP address for your 2nd router. This IP address must be within the subnet range.
Step 3: Connect a PC directly to one of the LAN ports of the new router.
Step 4: Disable the DHCP feature on the new access point. This is the option in the configuration menu.
Step 5: Set the WAP to the same static IP address that you assigned it to the main router. Or you can set it to get its address dynamically ‘from the ISP’ from the main router.
Step 6: Ensure that the access points are set to a gateway address of the main router, but the two devices should be configured with the same netmask.

There is a probability that you might get confused or stuck while following the steps, so it is recommended that you must connect to Cisco Support Number for completing the further steps.
